Scorpion Control Queen Creek, AZ

About Panda Pest Scorpion Control

Our dedicated team at Panda Pest Control is committed to keeping your home or business safe with our scorpion control in Queen Creek, AZ. These pinching pests are an everyday occurrence in Arizona, but just because they are prevalent doesn’t make them docile when coming into contact with humans or other animals. Not only are they infamous for immobilizing prey with their pincers, but they can also deliver a painful and venomous sting when you’re not careful.

Scorpions are often solo strikers. Their preference for the solitary life offers relief to property owners as spotting one on their lot won’t necessarily mean a horde is waiting to be uncovered. The only time you may find several in one area is if there is a scarcity of nesting grounds.

Because our company of scorpion control experts is primarily made up of Arizona natives, you can rest assured knowing we know these stingers like the back of our hands. We are well-equipped with the right set of tools and knowledge to combat all species, including the most venomous kind in all of North America, the Bark Scorpion.

If you have spotted a scorpion in your area or just want to stay protected from these common pests, reach out to us today!

Arizona Bark Scorpion

Physical Appearance: Bark Scorpions are usually light tan or brown-yellow, with their backside darker than the front. They are also quite small with the biggest ones only at 2.5 inches in length. Under ultraviolet light, they glow a bright bluish color.

Habits: They are nocturnal and prefer to stay alongside streams with sycamore, cottonwood, or mesquite trees. Despite this, they are also commonly found indoors. They often hide in cool and dark areas such as shoes, drawers, dark cabinets, and soil, even often burrowing to find comfort. Bark Scorpions can climb walls and trees, which helps them hunt for prey such as crickets, cockroaches, spiders, centipedes, and even fellow scorpions.

Reproduction: Each female can give birth to an average of 25 to 35 offspring at a time. Instead of hatching from eggs, the young are born live and will latch onto their mother’s back until their first molt and start to grow larger. The first shedding of the exoskeleton usually occurs in the third week. More often than not, the Bark Scorpion gives birth only once a year as their gestation period stretches out to several months at a time.

Primary Problem: The Bark Scorpion is the most venomous of the group. Their stings are extremely painful, often resulting in numbness, a tingling sensation, breathing issues, and a dangerously elevated heart rate.

Tips for Prevention: The primary prevention method that works against Bark Scorpions is to seal all entry points to your structure, including the gaps around windows and doors. Because they are tiny, they can easily get into the cracks. Maintaining a clean and trimmed yard without loose rocks can also help eliminate hiding spots.

Arizona Stripetail Scorpion

Physical Appearance: The Stripetail Scorpion is light tan to yellow, with signature dark stripes on its tail. Their claws are enlarged at the base but narrow towards the tip. Most male Stripetails reach 2 inches in length while females can grow to 3 inches long.

Habits: They love living in rocky or sandy areas while having easy access to moisture as their bodies are highly sensitive to humidity. To protect themselves from the heat, they hide away under rocks, logs, debris, closets, attics, and other dark areas. You may find them scurrying about more often during hot seasons as they seek shade and seclusion. When not in their “cave”, they also like to feast on many types of insects, worms, and small lizards.

Reproduction: Stripetail Scorpions usually mate during the seasons of spring and summer and carry the fertilized eggs for months, only to give birth anywhere between three to twelve months later. Their offspring are born live and underdeveloped, unlike other arachnids who lay eggs. These “scorplings” ride on their mother’s back until they molt for the first time about 7 to 21 days later. A morbid fact is if they fall off, they can become prey to their own mother.

Primary Problem: Because their venom is not particularly potent on humans, a Stripetail Scorpion isn’t usually dangerous. However, their stings can be as painful as getting stung by a bee and can sometimes trigger an allergic reaction in others. The elderly, young kids, and others with compromised immune systems are most at risk.

Tips for Prevention: The best way to prevent a Stripetail Scorpion is to hire a Queen Creek scorpion control company for comprehensive exclusion services. Clearing out clutter, keeping the landscape neat, and removing any standing water are also recommended.

Giant Hairy Scorpion

Physical Appearance: As you may have guessed, this species of scorpions has a lot of hair, though mostly only concentrated on their tails. They are tan or olive green with darker shades towards their backside. Their legs, however, are light yellow. They typically grow between four to seven inches in length.

Habits: Because they are much bigger than other scorpions, they have the ability to eat those much bigger insects such as adult lizards, spiders, small mammals, and other scorpions. Their approach to catching prey will vary since their paralyzing stings are not as effective on bigger animals. Instead, they must use tactical force if they want a heftier meal.

Reproduction: Female Giant Hairy Scorpions are not always willing to mate and are known to eat the male trying to seduce her if he forces it. Once impregnated, however, they typically take up to 10 months to give birth to a horde of 30 scorplings. Like other scorpions, Giant Hair Scorpions give birth to live young instead of eggs and carry their offspring around until the first molt three weeks later.

Primary Problem: Despite their size, Giant Hairy Scorpions are not much of a danger to humans. Their stings are mildly painful and can cause swelling, and the sight of them can be unnerving, but other than that, this species is not very aggressive.

Tips for Prevention: They typically make their way indoors through damaged window screens, crevices in the wall foundation, or under doors. To stop them from getting inside your house, ensure the structure is properly sealed.

Yellow Ground Scorpion

Physical Appearance: Yellow Ground Scorpions are not actually yellow but are more light tan to brown. They have slender hands and fingers and a striped tail, and they only grow to 2-3 inches in length. Similar to the Arizona Bark, they also glow light blue when under UV lighting.

Habits: Any local exterminator can tell you that this species of scorpion is adept at camouflaging themselves. Thanks to their color, they easily blend into their environment. However, they need to be especially wary of getting seen because they don’t typically like to burrow under soil. Instead, they try to hide between rocks, logs, and debris. They are not that big and mostly only feed on smaller insects, spiders, or baby lizards.

Reproduction: The reproductive cycle of a Yellow Ground Scorpion is similar to that of other species wherein they retain the eggs inside themselves until they hatch, giving birth to live offspring. They can produce 25 to 35 scorplings with each batch. Once out, they must stay safe and secure on their mother’s back until three weeks later during their first molt. Once they molt, they become too big to hitch a ride, and about five molts later, are considered full-grown.

Primary Problem: Their stings are not particularly life-threatening unless your immune system is compromised or it triggers an allergic reaction. They are, however, a danger to animals, which leaves your pets at risk.

Tips for Prevention: Because they don’t typically like to burrow, it is important to clear your property of any clutter that they made hide under or in between. Exclusion tactics are also best to prevent entry.

FAQs

What attracts scorpions to my home?

Pests like spiders, centipedes, and other insects can attract scorpions in search of food. They also prefer to hide in dark and secluded spaces, which makes attics, homes filled with clutter, furniture, and basements a sure target. Lastly, leaking pipes or faucets are also appealing as they love moisture.

Can scorpions give birth inside my property?

Yes, scorpions can give birth inside your property. However, they carry their young with them in the first three weeks, so removal of the mother within that time will reduce the chances of scorplings in and around your home.

How often should I schedule scorpion control?

Scorpions are native to Arizona and finding one nearby is fairly common. Scheduling treatments from a scorpion removal company monthly is highly recommended. With tactical exclusion methods, this frequency can be reduced to every other month once the level of scorpion activity dies down.

Can scorpions come back after treatment?

Yes, like with any pest, scorpions can come back after treatment. Properties with severe infestations are at higher risk of multiple sessions, especially since scorpions have the ability to hide in small spaces, making it more difficult to eliminate the entire population within the area. However, with professional application, the intervals between re-infestation become longer.

Do scorpions pinch or sting unprovoked?

Generally speaking, scorpions are secretive, shy away from frequented areas, and prefer to hide than attack. Because of this, they don’t normally pinch or sting unprovoked. They are usually only triggered when they feel threatened such as when they are grabbed, handled, stepped on, or touched.

What should I do if a scorpion stings me?

If you have been stung or pinched by a scorpion, immediately wash the affected area with soap and water to reduce the likelihood of it getting infected, and lessen the amount of venom. Once dried off, apply a cold compress to prevent swelling, and seek medical care to ensure it won’t result in further complications.

Is your scorpion control safe for my family and pets?

Yes, we only use clinically backed, eco-friendly, and products without traces of toxins to ensure the safety of your loved ones, pets, and your property. We also employ advanced methods that guarantee a 100% scorpion-free space once you opt to partner with us.

Will your scorpion control treatment harm my garden?

No, our scorpion control for indoor and outdoor areas is administered through premium products from organic sources and industry-standard tools. Each application will not harm you, your pets, people within the vicinity, or your garden. The only time we may need to apply changes in your yard is when it is necessary to trim vegetation for scorpion prevention.

Can I get rid of scorpions myself?

DIY scorpion removal is not recommended. Though not all species can inflict life-threatening venom, the chances of infection or having an allergic reaction are still present. Moreover, their stings can range from mildly painful to excruciating, and we don’t advise finding out which one you’ll experience today.

How soon can you come over for treatment?

We take your pest issues seriously and are proud of how quickly we can dispatch and offer our services. When you call us for a service, we’ll be there within 24 hours to find, remove, and prevent scorpions and other critters.

The Scorpion Problem

Whether you are concerned about your home’s structural integrity or your garden’s upkeep, Scorpions are generally not known to cause property damage. Though rare, there have been instances of divided electrical wires, leading to loss of power, a surge in energy bills, and the risk of fire.

Apart from it being highly unsettling to spot a scorpion in your personal space, the main concern with these pesky crawlies is the health risk they pose due to their venomous sting and agonizing pinches. Through our professional scorpion control in Queen Creek, AZ, these would be the least of your concerns.

We have had two different pest control companies in the last 3 years in our home. We continued to see live scorpions on and off pretty much that whole time. Then we called Panda since they came highly recommended. The technician came to spray and between yesterday and today, we are already seeing a lot of dead scorpions all around the house. It’s working! I think we found our forever pest control company.

I came across Panda on Instagram! I no longer have spiderwebs all over my outdoor lights that I needed a ladder to reach and clean! My husband and I are very short so, it’s a whole task for us. Also, the service specialist was very thorough with the eco friendly spray, outdoor and indoor. He even let me take a few photos of him for social media. All in all - the service was quick, friendly, and on time! We highly recommend to anyone.
